this was my first attempt at an actual business. i convinced myself that i was a web designer because i could use a squarespace template. i could make a competent website compared to the sea of poorly optimised images and random font choices on most business sites. unfortunately this wasnt enough to get any clients. i soon realised that most businesses had awful logos, so a website would not help any of their problems. so i studied graphic design, specifically logo design. with a student discounted illustrator i was on my way. i actually enjoyed it, and i feel like i got pretty good at it over the years.
surprisingly i actually got some work, mostly from friends and family, but i actually got paid, which was exciting. a sticker for a non-profit called Zelda that helped link students with companies that provided bursaries. a fake coffee shop design. a logo and packaging design for a homemade skincare company started by a mom and her daughters. a trucking company. a few business cards.
this slowly fizzled out as the work stopped coming.
